Dory came in and prepped the area, carefully grading the underlayment to slope away from the foundation of the house. Stone dust was then packed down in a solid layer and the large slabs were settled in place, one by one. For the final step, polymeric sand was used between the slabs to stabilize the patio and discourage weeds. An unexpected bonus was the extra stone dust packed in against the foundation. Beautiful work.

Dory Hilliard is the sole proprietor of this company and i was very impressed by her professional integrity and attention to detail. She takes pride in her work and enjoys what she does, which makes her a pleasure to do business with. At the start of the 1 day project, she explained what would be done and how the patio would be constructed. Dory and her employee Brian completed the project while i was at work and i returned to find the new patio complete and neatly swept. I would hire this company again in a heartbeat.

Dory and her crew were outstanding. They built stone wall borders and steps in our backyard. They also cleared two overgrown plant beds, removing large bushes and vines. The result was just as we’d imagine.

Dory was efficient, hard-working and paid remarkable attention to detail.

It’s always nice to come home from a long day and work and see you home looking so good with the perfect line in your lawn and the look of a fresh cut of a manicured lawn. It’s been 14 years with D&L landscaping and we are looking forward to many more years.

Working with D & L was a great experience. We panicked when our former landscaper quit the biz, but a fast check of Angie’s List and call to Dory got us an almost immediate site survey from her. She came back to the house to discuss the job and give us an estimate, and the work was completed as soon as the weather cooperated. Dory’s crew of strapping young men were fast, efficient, and did everything we had asked for (and more) at the agreed-upon price. The yard was transformed from a mess of dead leaves, road salt, and overgrown shrubs to a serene backdrop to our spring blooms. We highly recommend them.

Our experience with D & L Landscaping was excellent. Dory was very responsive and punctual. Her workers did a tremendous detailed job. We met Dory at the landscapers yard to pick out our pavers and she was very helpful. She helped us configure what would be needed and stopped me from “over-doing” it and saved me some $$ which was great ! They worked hard the entire time on sight and did whatever it took to make it right. “Good enough” is not in Dory’s vocabulary. She makes sure the job is done to perfection. They were very polite, even when dealing with my crazy neighbor (everybody has at least one). In fact, many of our neighbors commented on how hardworking Dory and her crew were and said they would certainly give D & L a call if they ever needed work done. We absolutely LOVE our patio and we plan on having D & L do our front walk and line our driveway with pavers too. They are absolute professionals and I couldn’t recommend them enough.

Dory and her crew edged and mulched all my beds, extended one bed to join another, trimmed all my bushes and mowed my lawn.

I called Dory and made an appointment to come by for an estimate. She called to confirm the time the day of the appointment. She looked over my property and gave me a quote on the spot, then told me she thought they’d be back on Thursday to do the work. She emailed me the night before to say when they were coming, and she emailed me the day after to see if I was happy. They did a great job for a great price. The work was beautiful!
